Finding Amy: CMSART Book Review
Those of you who are still drying out your
gear after our last Crime Scene Fundementals training can put your training
efforts in perspective by reading Finding Amy. It s the true story
of the 2001 disappearance and apparent murder of 25 year old Amy St. Laurent in
Portland, Maine. I won t give away the story, but Maine SAR groundpounders
are called upon to help in the investigation and play a critical role.
It s rare to get the overall perspective on
how SAR teams fit into a criminal investigation and prosecution. Here s a
chance to learn how it all works, from beginning to end. The book is well
written. Co-author Joseph K. Loughlin was an investigator in the case, and
offers his personal thoughts and reactions within co-author Kate Clark
Flora s clear narrative.
You can find Finding Amy: A True
Story of Murder in Maine at six Worcester County public libraries ( go
to www.cwmars.org),
and it s also available for about $7 through Barnes and Noble, and
Amazon.
