Central Massachusetts Search and Rescue Team Receives Corporate Support

Ben Meadows Company and SolidWorks Corporation provide donations to assist with critical rescue efforts

Worcester, Massachusetts October 12, 2005 - The Central Massachusetts Search and Rescue Team (CMSART), a volunteer search and rescue organization serving New England communities, has received donations from two national companies in support of their efforts.

On Saturday, October 8th the Ben Meadows Company
(www.benmeadows.com)presented the Team with an award plaque and donation. The Ben Meadows Company, located in Janesville, WI, is a national supplier of safety and outdoor equipment and gear to outdoor professionals. In addition, the Team has received multiple donations from SolidWorks Corporation (www.solidworks.com), in 2005. Located in Concord, MA SolidWorks develops and markets software for mechanical design, analysis, and product data management. It is a leading supplier of 3D mechanical design software for the mainstream market.

Mark Supernor, training coordinator and spokesperson for the Team, said, "These generous donations will allow us to purchase needed equipment used in searches and training of our members. We are honored to have been recognized by these fine companies and appreciate their contributions."

The CMSART is a non-profit 501 (c)(3) corporation established in 1992. It is a completely volunteer-based organization comprised of skilled men and women primarily from the Worcester County and Eastern Massachusetts areas. Members are concerned participants who volunteer their time, money, physical comfort and safety to save lives and promote wilderness safety.

The Team provides law enforcement and other state agencies throughout New England with 24-hour emergency response assistance for ground search and rescue operations, often in rough terrain and under harsh weather conditions. They are trained to operate in the field, day or night, and can deploy a variety of search tactics.

The CMSART is a registered search and rescue resource for the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation, the Massachusetts State Police Tactical Operations Unit, the Northeast Wilderness Search and Rescue Association, the New England Alzheimer's Association, as well as numerous local police and fire departments. These agencies depend upon the CMSRT to improve their ability to find missing persons and injured victims. Each year the Team contributes thousands of man-hours in a variety of search efforts.

The Team responds to requests for assistance from any official agency (police, fire, emergency response agencies). Members are notified of a search call out by Team pager or phone, any time -- day or night, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
