A Group of Shrewsbury Residents Learn Land Navigation

A small group of Shrewsbury residents participated in a land navigation class provided by CMSART, in early November. The class was requested by Rick Gill of Shrewsbury after meeting some of the CMSART members at the National Night Out event put on by the Shrewsbury Police Department. Mr. Gill inquired about our interest in teaching land navigation to himself and a few of his friends. CMSART responded by informing Mr. Gill that searching for lost individuals is only one small part of our mission and we would be more than happy to help out. We coordinated the date, time and venue with Mr. Gill and we were ready when they were. The training commenced on Sunday, November 5, 2006.

I would like to thank all participated in the training and the unbelievable spread of food that was provided. I also wish to thank Jennifer and Jared Jenkins for opening there house for the classroom portion. CMSART sends personal thanks to Rick Gill, Jennifer and Jared Jenkins, George Pfeifle and Ted Blackler for the generous donation to the team. We truly appreciate it

Dear Mark,

I want to take this opportunity to thank you for teaching the map and compass course to my friends and me on Sunday, November 5th. As we had discussed prior to the course, we are a group of friends who enjoy the outdoors and wanted to refresh our orienteering skills. The presentation and materials were perfect for our skill level. The beginner-level orienteering course at Trout Brook Reservation in Holden, MA was a perfect start to a fun activity I am certain we will all continue to enjoy for years to come.

Your time that day and your volunteer efforts year round are greatly appreciated.

On behalf of Jennifer and Jared Jenkins, George Pfeifle, Ted Blackler and myself;

With Kind Regards,

Rick Gill
Shrewsbury, MA.
